Mike McCarthy out as Dallas Cowboys head coach after failing to agree new deal with owner Jerry Jones
Mike McCarthy is set to leave his position as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys after reportedly failing to negotiate a new contract with the team.
McCarthy was expected to stay on for the 2025 season and talks with Jerry Jones were in full swing, but it is now reported that he has failed to agree terms.
NFL Network reports Tom PelisseroMcCarthy is now out after the two sides failed to agree on contract length, and the head coach will now pursue other opportunities elsewhere.
The shocking news comes just days after McCarthy and owner Jerry Jones looked ahead to the future and ‘remained open’ to working together.
McCarthy’s current deal expires Tuesday, and Jones did not immediately commit to him until 2025 after a 7-10 season in which the Cowboys missed the playoffs.
