Mike Lynch yacht sinking latest: Final body found in water during search for Hannah Lynch on sunken Bayesian superyacht off the coast of Sicily

Italian authorities have confirmed that a sixth body has been found in the sunken Bayesian superyacht. Divers resumed their search for Hannah Lynch on Friday morning.

Hannah, the 18-year-old daughter of yacht owner and tech magnate Mike Lynch, was the only passenger missing after the sailboat sank off the coast of Sicily on Monday.

If you’re new to us, Italian authorities have reported that a sixth body has been found in the wreckage of the Bayes Islands, after the search for Hannah Lynch resumed today.

Hannah was the last missing passenger after the bodies of five people, including her father Mike, were found on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to Italian media, prosecutors are now investigating “shipwreck and multiple charges of manslaughter” – similar to the manslaughter charge in the UK.

The investigation is being led by Ambrogio Cartosio, head of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the nearby town of Termini Imerese. More details are expected to be announced at a press conference tomorrow morning.

Causing a shipwreck is a separate crime under the Italian Penal Code. Persons found guilty of provoking or causing a shipwreck can be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.

According to Salvatore Cocina, the head of the Sicilian civil protection service, efforts to recover the sixth body, believed to be that of Hannah Lynch, are still ongoing.

Shortly after 12:00 local time, several boats with divers left Porticello to go to the site of the sinking.

Vincenzo Zagarola of the Italian coastguard said the search for Hannah was not “easy or fast”, comparing the sunken yacht to “an 18-storey building full of water”.

Mr Lynch, his daughter Hannah, Morgan Stanley International Bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judy Bloomer, Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo died when the yacht sank about 5 a.m. local time on Monday.
