Mighell stabbing: Horrifying details emerge after man allegedly stabs his partner to death before fleeing in a car and crashing into a truck near Innisfail
Shocked neighbours have told of the moment a woman died on a quiet rural street, allegedly after being stabbed by her partner.
Emergency services were called to Spina Street in Mighell, south of Innisfail in North Queensland, at around 4.15pm on Friday.
A 51-year-old woman was reportedly stabbed in the abdomen and begged neighbors for help as she shouted from the street. Then she died.
Her partner Floyd Tomarra is accused of fleeing the scene before crashing his car into a truck on the Bruce Highway near Sandy Pocket.
A manhunt was launched and Tomarra allegedly attempted to carjack a woman.
He fled into the surrounding bushland before being arrested at around 6pm and taken to Innisfail Hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
He was later transferred to Cairns Hospital where he continues to receive treatment.
Tomarra has been charged with one count of murder, with more charges expected to follow.
Police searched a crime scene at a home on nearby Scullen Avenue. Local residents said they were ‘shocked’ by the incident.

“The poor lady who died, died in my driveway,” a resident who wished to remain anonymous told the Courier mail.
Local resident Lance Sulter described the neighborhood as a quiet street.
“Honestly, all the kids play here and I put a basketball hoop in front of the school yard,” he said.
Detective Acting Inspector Alina Bell said Tomarra and the alleged victim are believed to be known to each other and have a de facto relationship.
“It is believed the man previously lived at the address, but no longer currently,” said Inspector Bell.
She also praised the efforts of witnesses who intervened to provide first aid to the seriously injured woman.

“All attempts were made to resuscitate the woman at the scene but unfortunately these were unsuccessful,” said Mrs Bell.
‘Any event in which someone loses their life is a tragic situation. There are a number of support services available for those affected and the wider community.”
“If you know someone who is experiencing domestic violence, we encourage you to report it to the police and seek help.”
Tomarra is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Monday.
