Tie-dye disasters and skin-baring shockers: The worst-dressed guests at the 2024 Midwinter Ball
Well-known politicians and business leaders attended the Midwinter Ball on Wednesday evening in impressive attire.
But while many guests looked fantastic, there were also a few who missed the mark and made a fashion faux pas.
Senator Jacqui Lambie, who stole the show last year, caused quite a stir when she arrived in a stunning blue feathered dress.
She had her hair combed into a bun and was wearing a large, chunky necklace and a blue clutch.
Unfortunately, the bright blue hue didn’t suit her skin tone and the fluffy hem was an unnecessary addition.
Australia’s Minister for Youth Affairs Anne Aly also stood out for all the wrong reasons in a knitted floral dress.
The striking dress, which featured a colourful floral sash, was paired with a matching knitted black bag and shiny heels.
Social Services Minister Amanda Rishworth missed the mark with a tie-dye dress that accentuated her figure.

Elsewhere, Senator Sarah Hanson-Young attracted attention for all the wrong reasons when she stepped out in a sheer dress.
The Green politician’s short petticoat and skin-colored corset were illuminated by the bright light of the cameras.

Home Secretary Clare O’Neil was also the victim of her fashion blunder in a mismatched red strapless top and flared trousers.
She completed her look with red hoop earrings and shiny gold shoes as she posed alongside actress Rachel Griffiths.
Never one to shy away from controversy, Lidia Thorpe appeared in a pro-Palestinian dress with the divisive phrase ‘from the river to the sea’ embroidered on the front.
Her white dress was bloody at the bottom and her bag had “Love Harder” written on it.
