Rolling Stones fans may have had to wait 18 years for the band’s latest album of new music, but the next album will be out a lot sooner.
Frontman Mick Jagger has revealed that the band has already written three-quarters of the songs for a follow-up to Hackney Diamonds. That album, featuring Elton John, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder, was a hit with critics when it was released in October.
When the 80-year-old Jagger left, he said he regretted not ‘cracking the whip’ to get it done sooner. It seems like he won’t make the same mistake twice.

The event will also need a new venue as Racquety Farm, in Hay-on-Wye, will not be hosting again. Last year the festival – described as ‘three days of camping, spirituality and wellbeing’ – also featured Charlotte Church and comedian Omid Djalili. But after Brand was accused of rape and sexual assault in a news investigation last year, which he denies, he appears to be struggling to attract the same stars.
