Michigan offensive lineman Zak Zinter broke his tibia and fibula during their win against rival Ohio State on Saturday, his mother revealed.
Zinter blocked a defensive rival as another Ohio State player fell forcefully on his bent leg, with broadcaster FOX refusing to show replays of the horrific incident that forced him to be carted off the field.
The player’s parents ran down to watch their son, while his Michigan teammates left the sideline and walked over to support him.
Zinter was then able to sit up on a stretcher after receiving emergency medical attention, before receiving a standing ovation from Michigan fans as he was taken away.
Later on Saturday evening, the Michigan star’s mother, Tiffany, provided an update on the injury, confirming he suffered a broken tibia and fibula. The 22-year-old will undergo surgery tonight.
