A Michigan couple has been charged after the newlyweds “intentionally” punched a groomsman following an argument on their wedding day, police said.
James Douglas Shirah, 22, and 21-year-old bride Savanah Nicole Collier were celebrating their wedding anniversary on the evening of August 30 when Flint police responded to an “injured pedestrian accident” on East Hamilton Avenue.
At the scene, officers found 29-year-old groomsman Terry Lewis Taylor, who was seriously injured.
According to police, the man was present as a witness at the young couple’s wedding, but became “involved in an argument” during which he was “intentionally hit by a large SUV.”
According to police, the vehicle was speeding and was “driven by the groom.”

Taylor is survived by his bride-to-be, who is pregnant, and their three young children.
His fiancée started a GoFundMe campaign to cover his funeral costs.
The fundraiser says: ‘My fiancé was murdered on August 30, 2024. He was only 29 years old. He leaves behind three children and I am currently pregnant.
‘We (myself and his family) are trying to give him the funeral he wanted and deserves.
“He was an amazing person, so many people love him. This was totally unexpected and many lives are being affected by this loss. If anyone can donate anything, it will help, even if it’s just a dollar or two.”
According to his obituary, Taylor enjoyed fishing, music, and spending time with his family and friends.
