Michigan Democrat’s brother Timothy Kildee, 57, is ‘shot and killed at home by his own SON during a fight before 27-year-old stole his truck then had horror crash at intersection’
The brother of a Michigan Democrat has died after being shot in his home by a suspect identified as his son.
Rep. Kildee’s brother, Timothy Kildee, 57, died of a gunshot wound in Vienna Township, Michigan, after an incident believed to involve his own son.
It is alleged the 27-year-old shot his father after a heated argument in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson says his office received a call around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning about an incident in Burton.
At that point, during a verbal confrontation, a gun was drawn and the suspect left the home on foot and contacted his biological mother.

While police responded to the shooting in Vienna County, reports came in of a serious crash at the intersection of Bray and Stanley roads in Genesee County.
She picked him up sometime before 5 a.m. and took him to a house in a township in Vienna, where Timothy lived with another son sleeping in the basement.
Another confrontation broke out, during which the son heard a shot downstairs.
Timothy Kildee’s vehicle and wallet were stolen by the suspect, but just eight minutes later a serious car accident occurred at the intersection of E. Stanley Road and N. Bray Road in Genesee Township.
The suspect suffered serious injuries and they are now recovering at Hurley Medical Center under the supervision of deputies.
“Our family is sad and heartbroken. There are no words to describe the loss of a beloved brother and family member, especially in such a terrible tragedy,” Congressman Dan Kildee said in a statement.
“I thank the community for respecting my family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson speaks along with Genesee County Prosector David Leyton at a news conference Tuesday about the shooting
The charges are still pending, but Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said if the prosecutor’s office were to “apply the law to the facts as we know them,” the suspect could be looking at counts of open homicide, carjacking, armed robbery, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime, carrying a concealed weapon and a motor vehicle violation stemming from the crash.
The 65-year-old representative from Kildee has been in Congress since 2013. His uncle Dale Kildee also served in Congress, and the younger Kildee was at one point one of the nation’s youngest elected officials when he joined the Flint Board of Education in 1977 at age 18.
In March 2023, he announced that he had been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, saying a “very small tumor” was found in one of his tonsils, but he underwent surgery and said he has since been “cancer-free.”
But he said the health problems are causing him to “reassess” his future.
“After spending time with my wife, children and grandchildren and thinking about our future, the time has come for me to step back from public office,” Kildee said. ‘Ultimately, running for office is primarily a personal decision. And this was not an easy decision to make. But I know this is the right choice for me and my family.”
