Michelle Yeoh Reveals Jackie Chan Was Originally Offered Her Role In Everything Everywhere All At Once
Michelle Yeoh revealed that Jackie Chan was originally offered his role in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
In a recent interview with CNNyouThe 60-year-old interpreter recalled the congratulatory text she received from Chan, 68, after taking on the role.
She recalled that, when the star of the Rush Hour franchise turned down the role due to previous work commitments, the part was rewritten for her.
Yeoh said, “I remember Jackie texting me and saying, ‘Congratulations! You know your kids came to see me first.” I’m like, “Thanks bro, you did me a big favor.”
The actress, who was recently honored at the Critics’ Circle Film Awards, has been nominated for the Best Actress award at the upcoming Oscars.

Yeoh began by revealing that directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known professionally as The Daniels, had originally written his role in Everything Everywhere All At Once for a male.
The interpreter also expressed that the filmmakers had written the script of the film with her in mind as the wife of the possible character of Chan.
Everything Everywhere All At Once focused on a laundromat owner who is tasked with reaching out to several different versions of herself in order to protect the multiverse from a malevolent force.
Cast members, in addition to Yeoh, included Ke Huy Quan, James Hong, and Jamie Lee Curtis, among others.
Development of the project began in the early 2010s and continued for several years.
Physical production on the film began in early 2020 and wrapped up just before the onset of the global pandemic.
Everything Everywhere All At Once debuted at last year’s South by Southwest festival and was released to the public on March 25.
The film was an immediate hit with critics and currently has a 95% rating on rotten tomatoes.
