EXCLUSIVE: English Actress Michelle Keegan Reveals What She Loved Most About Filming The Gripping New Stan Original Series Ten Pound Poms

English actress Michelle Keegan has revealed what she loved most about starring in the gripping new film Stan original seriesTen Pound Poms.

The 35-year-old Manchester native said it was a combination of a great script, her engaging nature and filming in beautiful Sydney that convinced her to apply.

‘Ten Pound Poms will certainly take the audience on a journey. I think the script is like a history lesson for me and the viewers,” she told Daily Mail Australia.

“I absolutely loved filming in Australia. In a way, my trip to Australia has parallels with my character’s. I came alone, which was kind of scary, but it was such an incredible experience.”

The six-episode mini-series focuses on a group of English citizens who emigrated to Australia in 1956 as part of the real ‘ten pound’ scheme, which allowed Britons to move Down Under at a low cost.

Michelle added that while appearing on the period drama was challenging at times, she absolutely loved the experience.

“It has been a real challenge for me and I have enjoyed every minute of it. The series is set in the 1950s and it’s the first time I’ve appeared in a period drama, something I’ve always wanted to do,” she explained.

The series dramatizes the famous Assisted Passage Migration Scheme, which brought over a million people to Australia after World War II.

The Coronation Street star also discussed what she loved about the country ahead of the show’s upcoming premiere.

“The Australian actors are so brilliant and they bring a different energy to the set,” she gushed.

The series stars veteran Australian actors Stephen Curry, David Field and Emma Hamilton, as well as newcomer Hattie Hook.

“What I miss most about Australia is the people. Everyone there is so nice, friendly and welcoming. The crew really got along and it was such a great work environment – and of course I miss the cast,” said Michelle.
