Michelle Heaton has recalled the moment she ‘accepted her life was over’ during the throes of her alcohol addiction.

Michelle uploaded a moving Instagram post on Thursday to mark World Mental Health Day, sharing how she managed to seek help when she found herself in a ‘dark, horrible, tortured place’.
Michelle, who drank two bottles of wine and a bottle of vodka almost every day for three years, shared a photo of herself in tears. She revealed that at this point she had admitted that she would die if she didn’t change. .
She wrote: ‘Today is World Mental Health Day. Unfortunately I have hundreds of these types of photos. Never shown, never seen, during a long battle with addiction & trauma.

“I will continue to share my story because it matters. It’s important because there will always be someone who suffers like me. Someone who cannot yet ask for help
‘Someone who cannot yet stop drinking or using drugs.
‘Someone who lost people he loved.
“Someone who can’t see the way out of that dark, horrible, tortured place.
‘In this photo I can see in my eyes that I have given up. I had accepted that my life was over and if I continued, I would surely die. I had a moment, a little pause in all of this, where I asked for help.
‘There was help, before that I couldn’t see it or accept it. 3 1/2 years later, all I want is for those in pain to have that moment to themselves.
‘There is a solution, you can recover. It is possible to live a life without fear and misery.. I promise.

Michelle shared a photo of herself in tears and revealed that at this point she recognized that she would die if she didn’t change.
Fans took to the comments section to praise Michelle for her statement, calling her “inspirational.” Her friend Nicola McLean added: ‘You should be so proud’
At the height of her battle, the singer had been drinking two bottles of wine and a bottle of vodka “pretty much every day since 2018” when an intervention led to her checking herself into rehab.

Michelle later revealed on her Instagram Stories that she was flying to Edinburgh to give a talk about mental health.

Speak with The sunMichelle said: ‘What I did was a suicide mission. I screamed for help when I really couldn’t ask for help. When you’re addicted, it feels like there’s no way out.
‘I hit rock bottom with alcohol and was in excruciating pain. My doctor felt my liver sticking out because I was so skinny.”
Michelle also told how she embarked on a ‘three-year coke binge’, during which she consumed a gram of cocaine a night in addition to alcohol.
Discussing her friends’ intervention, she said, “I was shaking and I was crying. I was drunk. Katie Price said: ‘You’re going to The Priory.’
Katie was previously a patient at The Priory as she battled her own demons.
The doting mum was told by Priory staff that the level of the enzyme GGT – which indicates liver damage – in her blood was 2.5000, compared to 30 for a healthy person.
Michelle has been married to Irish businessman Hugh Hanley since 2010 and the couple have two children: daughter Faith, 12, and son AJ, 10.
