Michelle and Barack Obama set out to visit Montserrat Monastery with Spielberg
Barack and Michelle Obama hit the road again with Hollywood director Steven Spielberg the day after watching Bruce Springsteen return to the stage in Spain.
The former president and first lady looked relaxed as they donned casual clothes and sunglasses as they waved to tourists during a trip to Catalonia’s popular Montserrat monastery on Saturday afternoon.
Obama took the time to walk up to a group of tourists and shake hands with them before visiting the monastery – one of the most famous pilgrimage sites that also offers breathtaking views of Catalonia.
Spielberg, wearing his signature baseball cap, was seen waving to the crowd as he walked behind the Obamas with his wife and actress Kate Capshaw.
Photos from the convent showed the Obamas admiring the world-famous Black Madonna – also known as ‘La Moreneta’.
