Michael Strahan has officially joined the grandfather club.
The 52-year-old TV presenter and former athlete welcomed his first grandchild after his daughter Tanita, 32, gave birth to a baby boy, according to People.
The Good Morning America host — whose other daughter Isabella, 19, was recently declared cancer-free — reportedly announced the happy news during the Fox NFL Sunday show, revealing that the baby’s name is Onyx. No further details have been released at this time.
Tanita, an illustrator from Los Angeles, is the eldest of Michael’s four children, whom he shares with his first wife, Wanda Hutchins.
Michael and Wanda were married from 1992 to 1996.

Tanita was born in Germany, but lived in Houston, Texas, until her parents divorced.
She then moved back to Germany with her mother.
In 2016, she revealed that her laid-back personality stems from her German upbringing.
“I’ve never been the type to be starstruck. Growing up in Germany, nobody cared about that kind of stuff,” she told People.
After high school, she returned to the United States and earned a degree in design and visual communications from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.
Michael revealed in a 2013 interview with Family from New Yorkand said she’s “kind of like me in the sense that she has a very strong personality, but a quiet, strong personality.”
“She’s not someone who just walks into a room and makes it all about herself. She definitely has an opinion and she’s very smart and she knows what she wants, which is what I love about her.”
In 2022, he celebrated his daughter’s birthday with a sweet tribute on Instagram, sharing a recent photo of them, as well as a throwback to her as a baby.

Besides Tanita, Michael also has a son, Michael Strahan Jr., 29, with Wanda.
Wanda is also the mother of son Dorian from a previous relationship, who is often seen with Michael in family photos.
With his second wife, Jean Muggli, he has twin daughters Isabella and Sophia, 19 years old.
The couple divorced in 2006 after seven years of marriage.
The happy baby news comes after Michael’s youngest daughter Isabella returned to university last month after being away for a while due to her battle with cancer.
The 19-year-old underwent multiple surgeries and months of grueling treatments, including chemotherapy, to treat a rare brain tumor.
In July, she triumphantly announced on her YouTube channel that she was “cancer free” after undergoing her last MRI scan.
Isabella broke the news of her return to college by happily posting a selfie with her mom on her Insta Stories, captioning it, “Back at USC” in the school’s red and gold colors.

She was a freshman in college when she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in October. Doctors discovered a tumor “bigger than a golf ball” growing at the back of her brain, causing her to suffer from “terrible headaches” and vomiting.
Isabella documented her battle with cancer on her YouTube channel. In July, she shared that she had undergone another major surgery after ringing the bell to mark the end of her chemotherapy treatment.
She later posted an update on YouTube, enthusiastically sharing that she was cancer-free after her last MRI scan.
The GMA host’s daughter shared that “everything has been great,” before admitting that she was looking forward to getting back to her normal life and preparing to return to college.
Isabella has previously spoken openly about the terrible symptoms she experiences as a result of her chemotherapy.
She then said that “everything” hurt and that it felt like she was “having a heart attack.”
“My eyes are strained, it hurts to look at the sides. My whole mouth feels like I’ve had a giant root canal,” she continued.
“Every tooth, just pulled out and not even surgically put back in. My jaw hurts, the underside of my tongue hurts. It hurts when I swallow water.”
Isabella told GMA in January that she started experiencing “really bad headaches” during her freshman year of college.
“I noticed something was wrong since September,” she said. “On October 1st I definitely had headaches, nausea, [I] could not walk straight.

Initially, Isabella said she mistook her symptoms for dizziness. Michael admitted that when his daughter shared her symptoms with him, he never considered that they could be signs of cancer, especially since she was only 18 and so “young, strong and healthy.”
However, on October 25, Isabella announced that her condition had seriously deteriorated. The teenager said that she began vomiting blood shortly after waking up.
According to Michael, he was told about his daughter’s brain tumor before she was born. He says he “can’t remember much” from the moment he learned of her diagnosis, but all he can remember is “getting to Los Angeles as quickly as possible.”
Isabella was eventually diagnosed with medulloblastoma, which, according to GMA, accounts for 20 percent of all childhood brain tumors and is found in approximately 500 children each year, usually between the ages of five and nine.
