Michael Keaton, 73, reveals his romcom-like CHANCE meeting with girlfriend Marni Turner, 51, eight years ago
Michael Keaton was the star of his own personal meet-cut when he first met his girlfriend Marni Turner.
The 73-year-old Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star, who took his partner to the Tim Burton Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, said he was blown away by his lover’s beauty when he first encountered her on the street in Los Angeles around 2016.
“I was like, ‘Wow.’ And then it turned out she was a really nice person,” he said People of the romantic comedy-like encounter.
Turner, 51, also has an eye for fashion and is a bargain.
“She’s proud that she’s — like someone comes up to her and says, ‘That’s awesome!’ And she’s like, ‘Thank you. $39, TJ Maxx.'”

“That’s just her thing,” he explained. “That’s what she’s known for.”
Turner was also with him when he filmed his Emmy-winning performance as a doctor at the heart of the opioid epidemic in 2021’s Dopesick.
“I lost my nephew to fentanyl, heroin, fentanyl, so that made it even more special, of course,” the actor said of the series.
“It’s one of the reasons I did it. Some people think it’s the only reason I did it. It wasn’t. It was just really well written and I would have done it anyway,” he claimed of the series based on building a lawsuit against the makers of Oxycontin.
“But it was a step too far for me, I think. I wanted to honor him, but I also wanted to make other people aware of it.”
The actor said Turner was a source of support during that emotional time. “I couldn’t have gotten through Dopesick without her,” he said.
The actor, born Michael John Douglas, has decided he wants to use a variation of his birth name for the rest of his career.
According to Screen Actors Guild rules, an actor cannot use the same stage name as another actor. Keaton had to give Douglas as his last name and chose Keaton after finding the name in the phone book, according to Wikipedia.
The couple met sometime around 2016. “I was like, ‘Wow.’ And then she turned out to be a really nice person,” he told People of the romantic comedy-style meeting (pictured in Beverly Hills in March).
Turner, 51, accompanied Keaton to Tim Burton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony on Tuesday, September 3. The couple have been linked since around 2016, but have kept their relationship private
Keaton said Turner provided him with emotional support during the filming of his Emmy-winning performance in Dopesick, in which he played a doctor affected by the opioid epidemic. “I couldn’t have gotten through Dopesick without her,” he said.
The actor can’t quite remember the motivation. “I was flipping through — I can’t remember if it was a phone book,” he told the outlet.
‘I must have thought, “I don’t know, let me think of something.” And I thought, “Oh, that sounds reasonable.”‘
He changed his name on social media and had hoped to list his new moniker in the credits for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
“I said, ‘Hey, just as a heads up, my credit goes to Michael Keaton Douglas. And it totally slipped my mind. And I forgot to give them enough time to put it in and create it. But that’s what’s going to happen,'” he explained.
