Six sneakers worn by Michael Jordan during his six NBA championships sold for a record $8 million at auction in New York.

‘The Dynasty Collection’ consists of six individual Air Jordan sneakers. They were worn by Jordan during the decisive game of his NBA Finals victories.

The shoes were sold to a buyer in the room at Sotheby’s on Friday, setting a new world record for game-worn sneakers.

They also became the second most valuable piece of Jordan memorabilia ever sold.

The 60-year-old’s jersey from game one of the 1998 NBA Finals – the famous ‘Last Dance’ season – still holds the record for all game-worn sports memorabilia.

It sold for $10.1 million at Sotheby’s in September 2022. A year later, in April 2023, MJ’s Air Jordan 13s from game two of the same NBA Finals earned $2.2 million at auction.

The basketball icon won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls between 1991 and 1998.

He became one of the most famous athletes in the world, and his partnership with Nike created one of the most recognizable brands in sports – one that continued long after Jordan’s NBA career ended.

The $8 million sale is being hailed as another “reminder of Michael Jordan’s lasting impact.”

“Today’s record price is a testament to the GOAT. The Dynasty Collection is undeniably one of the most important collections of sports memorabilia in history,” said Brahm Wachter of Sotheby’s.

“(It’s) a truly unparalleled moment and milestone in auction history, the sale of these six championship sneakers will likely never be repeated.”
