Michael Jordan’s ‘new 82-foot $15million yacht fails to place in $7.5m deep-sea fishing tournament’ off North Carolina coast

Michael Jordan’s latest venture into deep-sea fishing did not go as well as he had hoped.

Jordan reportedly competed in the 66th annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in Morehead City, North Carolina, with his latest boat, a yacht named “Catch 23,” according to TMZ.

He hoped to win a share of the prize pool, which totaled $7.5 million in cash.

Unfortunately, Jordan’s crew of seven fishermen and a captain failed to qualify and therefore did not take home any money this weekend. The basketball legend himself did not participate in the tournament.

The largest fish caught this weekend was brought in by a boat named Game Time, which brought in a 516-pounder.

By comparison, Catch 23 only brought in a total of 400 pounds of fish all weekend.

The boat that Jordan’s team competed in was a brand new $15 million vessel with an 80-foot span.

For comparison, that’s less than 1 percent of Jordan’s reported net worth of $3.6 billion.

Jordan only recently acquired the boat, which was named Catch 23, similar to other boats he previously competed in.

In 2020, Jordan’s boat finished second to last in the same tournament – despite catching a 442.3-pound fish.

The vessel has been successful in other tournaments, such as the white marlin division of the 32nd annual MidAtlantic Fishing Tournament in August 2023.
