One of the most famous jerseys in sport can be bought next month as an iconic Michael Jordan No. 23 Chicago Bulls shirt will be up for grabs.
Wealthy bidders have the chance to purchase Jordan’s red away Bulls jersey from Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals, which the Bulls went on to win to seal the basketball legend’s sixth championship in his final season.
The valuable piece of memorabilia has been put up for sale with Sotheby’s online auction, opening at 10am on September 6.

The estimated price is between $3million and $5million and fans will have the chance to try to seize it until September 14, as part of the company’s sports artifacts collection Invictus Part I.
Jordan totaled 45 minutes in Game 1 of the Finals against the Utah Jazz over two decades ago as he recorded 33 points to take the game to overtime.
The Bulls did lose the opener but Jordan starred as he won his sixth NBA ring and sixth Finals MVP gong.

Jordan’s last NBA Finals was depicted in a 10-part ESPN and Netflix docuseries ‘The Last Dance’ two years ago, evoking fond memories among fans as well as reminding people of his basketball greatness.
Interest in Jordan rocketed again following ‘The Last Dance’ series with the return of ‘Jordan Fever’. And now it could be back once more.
‘Finals jerseys from Jordan … they just don’t come around,’ Sotheby’s Brahm Wachter told The New York Post.
‘Red is really the color that people think about when they think about Michael Jordan, and this is the only red Finals jersey to ever appear at auction.’
A shot of Jordan in action in the first game of the 1998 Finals also featured on the Sports Illustrated cover and a graded copy of that is also part of the lot up for sale.
Diego Maradona’s shirt from the 1986 World Cup when Argentina knocked out England in Mexico – the jersey he wore when scoring the ‘Hand of God’ and ‘Goal of the Century’ goals – fetched $8.7m at Sotheby’s auction in May.
