Julian Edelman recently recalled one of, if not only, interactions with NBA legend Michael Jordan before Super Bowl XLIX in 2014, when the New England Patriots were set to play the Seattle Seahawks in Glendale, Arizona.
On his Games with Names podcast, the 37-year-old former wide receiver said he saw Jordan and Derek Jeter a week before the showdown while out to dinner with his parents.
He remembers being “super starstruck” when he encountered both icons and that Jeter was a “very charming guy, welcoming.”
'I've seen Jordan. He was a bit distant,” he said at the time.
“And as soon as the conversation is almost over, about five minutes later, and I'm about to leave, Jordan comes up to me. He says, “Hey kid, I got a bunch of money on you. Don't give a fuck.' And that's all he said to me.”

The Patriots led by Tom Brady and coached by Bill Belichick ultimately defeated the Seahawks 28–24 and won their fourth Super Bowl in franchise history as they scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to come back and win.
Edelman had more of an impact than ever in that game, as he caught nine passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown pass came with just over two minutes left in the fourth quarter and gave the Patriots the lead.
Edelman was drafted by the Patriots as a seventh round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He recorded 359 receiving yards in his rookie season, but became one of the league's top wide receivers at the time in 2013 when he recorded 1,035 receiving yards.

Edelman once had an on-again, off-again relationship with Brazilian model Adriana Lima in 2016 and 2017.
