Michael Jordan ‘agrees there are similarities’ between himself and Anthony Edwards as Timberwolves star continues to draw comparisons

NBA legend Michael Jordan agrees there are similarities between himself and Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.
While the 22-year-old Edwards continued to draw comparisons to the player widely considered the GOAT, Jordan confirmed he saw flashes of himself in the Minnesota franchise player.
On Wednesday, FS1’s Chris Broussard relayed a message from Jordan about an episode of First Things First.
“I contacted the GOAT today, Michael Jordan,” Broussard said. Jordan said there are similarities in their games, he agreed. When Jordan says there are similarities, there are similarities.”
Edwards was drafted by the T-Wolves in 2020 and draws Jordan comparisons for his mentality, playing style and athleticism. While Broussard noted that Edwards wouldn’t be as big as Jordan, he emphasized how the latter reflects the six-time champion’s tenacity.

Broussard also noted Edwards’ viral dunk on Utah Jazz forward John Collins on March 18.
“Besides the athleticism and explosive dunks, his desire to play is similar to MJ’s,” Broussard said of Edwards. “And this dunk proves it. He dislocates his finger, goes to the locker room, gets it snapped back into place, taped up and then comes back to play.”
Like Broussard, Milwaukee Bucks veteran and former Timberwolves player Patrick Beverley told reporters in November that he “told everyone from the beginning” that Edwards “has a chance to be Michael Jordan.”
On the other hand, Undisputed host Skip Bayless described the comparisons as “laughable.” He also cited Minnesota’s 115-112 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday, despite Edward’s 30-point effort.
“I just cry for this child,” Bayless said Wednesday. “I guess Anthony might have heard some of that talk, and it started to creep into his psyche as ‘I must be Jordan,’ and last night he wasn’t Jordan.”

Edwards is averaging 26.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists while shooting 46.7 percent from the field in 65 games this season. With him in the lead, Minnesota has the second seed in the Western Conference with a 47-21 record.
With many of the Jordan comparisons surrounding him, Edwards admitted he wants them put to rest.
“I just want them to stop,” Edwards told Complex in December. “Because he’s the best to ever play basketball, and I’m still so far away from that.”
