Michael Jackson’s bespoke soft leather jacket from his first Pepsi commercial in 1984 will be auctioned on November 10 at 3pm BST until Prop Shop Auction.
Bidding for the late King of Pop’s black and white zip top – which has no size or maker’s mark – starts at £100,000 but is estimated to fetch between £200,000 and £400,000 at auction.
The Jacksons reportedly earned a record $5 million for their promotional deal with PepsiCo in 1983, and they all appeared in a commercial shot on the streets of New York.
The 13-time Grammy winner even reworked his 1983 hit Billie Jean to create a jingle that references Pepsi’s ‘New Generation’ of child consumers for the video, which starred 12-year-old Alfonso Ribeiro.
Michael was also pictured rocking the jacket on the set of Thriller, as well as at a private screening of the iconic horror-themed music video in Westwood in 1983.
