Michael J. Fox was supported by his family along with Back To The Future co-star, Christopher Lloyd, as he gratefully accepted a high honor at the 13th Annual Governors Awards on Saturday in Los Angeles.
The now-retired actor, 61, received the honorary Oscar known as the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Prize which is given to an individual, ‘whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry’.
The Back To The Future alum was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 and founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000 to help fund further research into the condition.

The Spin City star kept his look classic and sophisticated for the special evening as an honoree.
He put on a black suit, which he combined with a white shirt and a black tie. The actor slipped into a pair of black sneakers to complete his overall ensemble.
The Emmy Award winner posed for a series of snaps alongside his gorgeous wife, who looked elegantly chic for the evening.
The happy couple, who tied the knot in 1988, first met on the set of the popular sitcom series Family Ties.
Tracy opted for a form-fitting, long-sleeved black sequin dress that fell to the floor.

The actress accessorized her look with dangling silver earrings and a thin rhinestone necklace.
Her hair was parted in the middle and styled in a stylish updo, allowing curls to flow down the sides of her face.
In an interview published by People last month in October, Michael said, “My best life right now is enjoying my family so much.”
He further added, “Tracy and the kids are amazing. I know that sounds boring, it sounds like a fairytale, but we’ve been married for thirty years, so we came up with something.’
Also present at the ceremony to be by their father’s side were his four children whom he shares with Tracy: Sam, 33, twins Aquinnah and Schulyer, both 27, and Esme, 21.

Although Michael has never been nominated for an Oscar and has retired from acting in 2020 due to his condition, his humanitarian work has not gone unnoticed by people in the film industry.
According to deadline, Academy President David Rubin stated, “Michael J. Fox’s tireless advocacy of Parkinson’s disease research alongside his boundless optimism illustrates one person’s impact in changing the future for millions.”
The star was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991 at the age of 29. He did not come out with the news of his diagnosis until later in 1998.
The condition affects the central nervous system, with some common symptoms such as tremors, movement disorders and speech changes progressively worsening over time, according to Mayo clinic.
In 2000, the star launched the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help fund more research into treatments and potential cures for the condition. Currently, the organization has raised approximately $1.5 billion.
When I recently spoke with Entertainment tonight on receiving the honorary Oscar for his humanitarian efforts, Tracy said the honor was “exciting,” while Michael jokingly added, “celebrating me is overrated.”

Christopher Lloyd, who most notably starred alongside Michael in the beloved Back To The Future franchise, also attended the ceremony.
He got a chance to cheer on his former co-star and watched the retired actor receive the special honorary Oscar on Saturday night.
The two stars, who have remained close over the years, recently teamed up to launch a special Back To The Future line of merchandise.
“Great Scott!” he had written on a recent Twitter post to announce the big news. “Our very first Back To the Future merchandise store that @RealMikeFox and I designed is finally here!”

In an emotional interview with People in October, the Back To The Future star said his condition “deteriorated” and he became unusually “short with people” after breaking his cheek, hand, shoulder and arm and his mother Phyllis died at age 92 in the past year.
The actor previously cited 2018 as one of his worst years, when he underwent spinal surgery to remove a tumor, after which he broke his left arm.
He said, ‘I broke my cheek, then my hand, then my shoulder, had a replacement shoulder put in and broke mine [right] arm, then I broke my elbow. I’m 61 years old, and I feel it a little bit more.’
“I was never really a grumpy guy, but I got very grumpy and curt with people. I’m trying to nip it in the bud,” the talented star added.
“I always think of the assistants who work with me. And I often say to them, ‘Whatever I say, imagine if I said ‘please’ at the beginning and ‘thank you’ at the end. Take a moment to absorb that I might have said that if I was more myself, but I didn’t, so my apologies.’
