Michael C. Hall can’t seem to escape the killer within him.
The 53-year-old Golden Globe winner will return to the Dexter franchise in two upcoming series. He appeared on a panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.
He will reprise his title role in the upcoming sequel series Dexter: Resurrection for Paramount+ with Showtime.
A direct series order has been placed for the series.
Hall will also join the cast of the prequel Dexter: Original Sin as the inner voice of the young Dexter, played by Patrick Gibson.

In Resurrection, Dexter is set in the present day, while Original Sin takes place during his early years as a police officer in the ’90s.
“We are thrilled that the brilliant Michael C. Hall is reprising his iconic role as Dexter Morgan on Showtime’s most successful series ever,” said Chris McCarthy, co-CEO and president of Paramount Global, in a statement.
“While Dexter: Resurrection will appeal to tens of millions of loyal fans, Dexter: Original Sin will introduce a whole new generation of viewers to this iconic series by starting from the beginning, which will certainly appeal to existing audiences as well,” he added.
a preview for Original Sin was also shown for the first time during Friday’s panel, which recreated the opening sequence from the original show featuring the 29-year-old Gibson.
When Showtime decided to give the series a straight-to-series overhaul last year, the official synopsis stated that the series would “dramatize the young Dexter Morgan at the beginning of his transformation into the vengeful serial killer he would become.”
Set in Miami, which was a hotbed of real-life serial killers in its day, the series begins with Dexter graduating from college to work at Miami Metro, where he meets younger versions of many of the characters we met in the original Dexter story.
‘And of course the show will also focus on Dexter’s family, including a very much alive Harry and an impressive teenage Deb.’
Last month, Patrick Dempsey and Sarah Michelle Gellar joined the cast of the prequel series, which also stars Christian Slater and Christina Milian.
While production on Original Sin is still ongoing, the series is expected to premiere in December.

The sequel series was also announced alongside the prequel, following “the continued rise of Dexter’s son Harrison,” who was previously revealed to be battling his own Dark Passenger.
The series follows Harrison fleeing to New York City after the events of the 2022 miniseries finale of Dexter: New Blood.
Hall played the lead role in Dexter (8 seasons, from 2006 to 2013), a forensic investigator who works as a serial killer in his spare time, targeting murderers who have slipped through the justice system.
