Michael Bublé has opened up about how his son Noah's battle with liver cancer 'reset' his priorities in life.
The 48-year-old singer revealed how his son Noah, now ten, who was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma in 2016 at the age of three, 'pulled back the curtain'.
He emotionally confessed that the diagnosis was a “sledgehammer” to his life and caused him to recalibrate his priorities, focusing on his family rather than his career and “ego.”
Speaking with Steven Bartlett about The Diary of a CEO podcastMichael appeared tearful as he said he will never be “carefree” in his life again after his son's battle with cancer.
The star – who is married to Luisana Lopilato – explained: 'My son's cancer diagnosis has turned my world upside down. It pulled back the curtain from my eyes. I don't want to go into depth about it, but I don't think I had any context.

“That was a sledgehammer to my reality, I will never be carefree again in my life, and that's okay.
“It's a privilege for me to exist and that pain, fear and suffering that comes with that kind of thing is part of this life.
'When it actually happened, I was going through a crisis. I don't think I had my priorities clear. My family was always a love – I don't think I was a terrible guy, but they were blinders – career, ambition, how do I become the worst, biggest, best? More ego, more power.”
Michael said he felt like he was living with a “curtain” in front of him before his son Noah's cancer diagnosis, when he promised himself to give up his “ego.”
“It's like life was lived like a curtain in front of me, like a filter, and the moment they said, 'This is what's happening,' reality hit me – the filter was gone in an instant,” he continued .
“I went okay, this is it, this is life, that's what's important. It's not like I thought about it, I didn't, there was no time to process it.'
'I remember closing my eyes and saying to myself, if we get out of here, I will live a different life, a better life. And I did, I made that promise to myself in a moment.

'I want to be kinder, I want to be more empathetic, I don't want that ego and that false self to take over, I want to know how lucky I am.
“I'm a lucky man, look at my wife, how did that happen, how did I get this incredible human being, who is the best of all of us, to guide me through it and get me through these things?”

In addition to Noah, Michael shares children Elias, seven, Vida, five, and Cielo, 16 months, with his actress wife Luisana.
Michael has previously spoken about Noah's cancer diagnosis and how he felt like “the superhero I always wanted to be” before being “changed” by the “unthinkable” ordeal.
Earlier this year, Michael said Red magazine: 'That obviously changed me enormously – it changed what was important to me, it changed the way I looked at life.
'For most of my life as an entertainer and especially on stage, I was my alter ego. I would become the superhero I always wanted to be.

“Then my wife and I experienced something unthinkable, and I lost that alter ego.”
On maintaining a successful relationship with his wife Luisana, he added: “My wife and I, above all, understand that each other's fulfillment is important…
'I'm not saying we're perfect – no one is – but we both realize that.
'Next year I won't be touring for certain months because she's going to shoot a movie, so I'll be daddy on set, and she'll do the same for me. We don't care what we do; being together is the goal.”
