American club pro Michael Block provided one of the most incredible moments in recent golf history on Sunday when he hit a slam-dunk hole-in-one during the final round of the PGA Championship.
The 46-year-old – who teaches golf at a public golf course in California – was the talk of Oak Hill leading up to the final round, as he clinched a spot playing alongside Rory McIlroy over a fairytale weekend.
And he made it even more memorable on the 15th hole in New York State, shooting a remarkable hole-in-one to drive the packed crowd wild.
In response to the shot, he turned to McIlroy and immediately asked, “Rory, did it go in?” before getting a hug from the former world number 1.
He was then given a hero’s reception as he walked to the green to clear his ball from the hole, before showing the camera as he marked the ‘1’ on his scorecard and circled it.

Block made headlines on Saturday night when he found out on live broadcast that he would be playing his final round alongside McIlroy, and he has been the story of the tournament.
‘Are you serious?’ he asked the reporter who had given him the news, before he had to take a moment to process the information.
At his day job at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, California, he charges $125 for a 45-minute lesson as a golf instructor.
Over the first three days of the PGA Championship, he recorded three consecutive even-par rounds of 70, and his hole-in-one on the 15th on Sunday brought him back to level par, tied for 13th in the tournament.
