Miami property developer ‘tried to poison his wife,’ bombshell divorce records reveal as FBI raids lavish home

The wife of a prominent Miami developer accuses him of poisoning her with lethal narcotics and hiring someone to kill her, according to shocking divorce documents.

Tatiana Pino, 55, married Sergio Pino, 67, the president of Century Homebuilders Group, in 1992. The couple have two daughters, Alexander and Carolina Pino.

In 2022, Tatiana filed for divorce against Sergio and during the divorce proceedings, a surprising detail came to light, just hours after the FBI raided the developer’s $7.9 million Coral Gables home on Monday Headquarters.

The raid was conducted after divorce records revealed that Tatiana had been hospitalized multiple times after doctors found fentanyl in her system. Miami Herald reported. The agency is also investigating arson and hit-and-run related crimes against her and her sister.

During her statement in September 2022, Tatiana said she had been ill for three years and was “going in and out of hospitals.”

Tatiana Pino, 55, filed for divorce from her wealthy husband, property developer Sergio Pino, 67, in 2022. She has accused him of poisoning her on several occasions.

On Monday, the FBI raided Sergio's home and business as part of an investigation into the alleged poisonings. (in the photo: Tatiana (middle) and her two daughters in 2022)

Sergio’s attorney, Sam Rabin, asked his client’s wife at the time, “Do you believe your husband poisoned you?”

“I believe so,” Tatiana replied.

She was admitted to Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2022 after doctors struggled to diagnose her.

Tatiana struggled to breathe and had to be intubated six times before doctors discovered she had the deadly narcotic in her system, according to separation records reviewed by the Miami Herald.

When she was released, doctors told Sergio’s wife not to return to her “normal environment” as she was staying at her sister’s home while she recovered.

“They were afraid of me because if this happened to me again, I would have been dead,” Tatiana said, according to the records.

During her recovery, Tatiana recalled that her symptoms began to disappear after she moved out of her home with her husband.

When her husband’s lawyer asked what motive Sergio might have had for poisoning her, Tatiana suggested that he was allegedly trying to kill her for financial gain.

“Well, I just don’t think my housekeepers would have a motive. He might have a money motive. A financial motive,” she said earlier.

Rabin continued to question Tatiana, but her attorney, Raymond Rafool, advised her not to speak about the investigation being conducted by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.

On Friday, Rapool told the Miami Herald that the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office have since taken over the ongoing investigation.

Deanna Shifrin, Sergio’s family attorney, said that although Tatiana has been seen by multiple medical professionals over the years, she admitted under oath that none of her illnesses had been confirmed as being caused by poisoning.

“In other words, there is no objective evidence that Ms. Pino was poisoned by anyone,” Shifrin told DailyMail.com.

‘To make it clear, Mr Pino is devastated by these attacks on him and his family and denies any suggestion that he is responsible for them.’

The lawyer added that the husband “has also been the victim of threats and vandalism during his divorce proceedings.”

DailyMail.com has contacted Rabin for comment.

In addition to the alleged attempts to poison his wife, Sergio is also accused of trying to kill her in a hit-and-run.

In August 2023, a Home Depot truck reversed into Sergio’s estranged wife’s blue BMW as she pulled into the driveway of her Pinecrest home.

According to home video surveillance, the unlicensed rental car quickly fled the scene. Investigators believe the incident was not an accident Miami Herald reported.

In March 2024, Bayron Bennett, a part-time employee of Sergio, told federal investigators that he and others had allegedly been enlisted to harm Tatiana. The affidavit did not specify who recruited Bennett and his associates.

“It was clear that this was an intentional act and not an accidental collision,” the FBI said in the criminal complaint against Bennett.

Along with Bennett, Micahael Dulfo, Edner Etienne and Jerren Howard were accused of stalking Tatiana.

Dulfo, Bennett and Howard were also charged with arson after attacking Tatiana’s sister’s vehicle. They were also charged with a racketeering-related offense.

According to the indictment, the four men “intended to kill, injure and intimidate.” All this led to Tatiana and her sister being in “reasonable fear of death or serious bodily harm.”

The group of men are accused of committing the criminal acts between June 2022 and March 2024, the indictment said.

The four have all pleaded not guilty and are expected to stand trial in Miami federal court in August.

Rabin, who is representing Sergio in the FBI investigation, told DailyMail.com: ‘We are aware of the investigation and we are fully cooperating with authorities.’

During the raid on Monday night, Sergio’s estate on Isla Dorada Blvd in Coral Gables and his office headquarters on Ponce de Leon Street were searched by the FBI.

Tatiana stated in the divorce proceedings that she is entitled to alimony because she stopped working and became a housewife for her and Sergio’s children.

The filing added that the family leads a “lavish and luxurious lifestyle” that Tatiana cannot maintain living alone.

Sergio said his wife “expressly waived their right” to alimony through their original prenuptial agreement, according to a counter-claim.

Tatiana came back and said that she had signed a marriage contract “under duress and coercion.”

The filing revealed that the couple first married on April 9, 1992, in a civil ceremony, but on the day before their “long-planned religious wedding ceremony and party,” Sergio allegedly “ambushed” her with the arrangement.

“These factors caused Ms. Pino to feel she could not say no to signing the prenuptial agreement without disappointing her husband — whom she trusted — and her family and friends who were looking forward to the celebration the following day,” the filing said.

“For that reason, Tatiana argues that the prenuptial agreement is unenforceable.”

Sergio leads Century Homebuilders Group – the “largest Hispanic-owned homebuilder in the country,” according to the company’s website.

He is best known for his prominent businessman status and his influential connections among both provincial and local politicians.

In 2022, Sergio’s company partnered with another successful Miami real estate developer, Treo Group, and purchased 10.5 acres in Florida City with plans to build 131 townhomes. The real deal reported.

Century Homebuilders paid $6.3 million for the project. The group recently completed a four-bedroom, 537-apartment complex in Doral.
