Miami Dolphins rocked by Tua Tagovailoa injury news ahead of must-win game for the playoffs

The Miami Dolphins will not start quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for their must-win game against the New York Jets this weekend.

The Dolphins must beat the Jets and hope the Denver Broncos lose to the much-changed Kansas City Chiefs to make the postseason.

But while the Chiefs will be without their starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes in free agency, the Dolphins have lost their main man due to a hip issue.

Head coach Mike McDaniel said it is “highly unlikely” Tagovailoa will be in any condition to face Aaron Rodgers and the Jets at MetLife Stadium.

It means that Tyler ‘Snoop’ Huntley will take the field in his place.

“We’ll approach it like Snoop starting,” McDaniel said Friday. ‘The way we approached the week is probably smart. I think it is unlikely that Tua will take action.

‘It’s not about a bruise (for Tua), that would be pain tolerance. Tua wishes it was a pain problem. It literally means that we can have the power to do what we ask of him, and that we can protect ourselves from a very serious injury if we do not treat it properly.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a bruise, but it’s a unique muscle problem.”

Huntly completed 22 of 26 passes for the Dolphins for 225 yards and one touchdown in the 20-3 victory over the Cleveland Browns last weekend, a win that leaves the Dolphins at 8-8 for the season.

McDaniel was unsure of the time Tagovailoa would get to get back on the field if his team made the playoffs, but said the problem had improved during the week.
