Plans for a reboot of Blade, originally played by 60-year-old Wesley Snipes in a trilogy of films, were first revealed by Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019.
Blade was created in 1973 as a supporting character by Marvel Comics writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan for the 1970s comic strip The Tomb Of Dracula.
In the comics, Blade’s mother was bitten by a vampire while she was in labor and her child was made immune from turning into a vampire.
The character in the 1998 movie was turned into a dhampir, a human with vampire powers but not their weaknesses.
The original Blade film made $131.2 million at the worldwide box office and was followed by its sequels Blade II in 2002 and Blade: Trinity in 2004.
Filming for the Blade reboot was expected to begin in May at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Goth recently starred in the slasher movies X and Pearl and another sequel titled MaXXXine is currently in development.
