‘I can’t buy a fucking hit’: New York Mets’ Daniel Vogelbach’s frustrations are picked up on the mic after Houston Astros loss
Mets hitter Daniel Vogelbach held his own during New York’s spring training game against Houston in Port St. Lucie.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Vogelbach hit a groundout, which was easily thrown to first base long before the big man could get close to the other hot corner.
As he jogged, the 30-year-old voiced his frustrations.
“I can’t buy a fucking slam,” he said, the remarks picked up by a hot microphone inside the Florida stadium.
At the time, the Mets trailed the defending World Series champions 4-1.
Mets hitter Daniel Vogelbach had trouble putting everything together Wednesday against the Astros.
Things didn’t get much better for the Queens club, which ultimately lost the game 5-2.
New York has just four spring training games left on its schedule before the MLB season begins.
Buck Showalter’s team will take on the Marlins on opening day at Miami’s Marlins Park on March 30.
His Opening Day at Citi Field comes a bit later, against the Marlins on April 6.
Expectations are high once again in Queens after the offseason signings of Brandon Nimmo, Edwin Diaz, Justin Verlander and Kodai Senga.
