Mets fans are OUTRAGED after ‘Hawk Tuah’ girl Haliey Welch throws ceremonial first pitch: ‘Seriously what were they thinking?’
The New York Mets have faced criticism after Haliey Welch, who became famous in a viral video, was on the mound prior to Thursday’s game against the Oakland A’s.
The girl, “Hawk Tuah” — the nickname Welch was given after the social media storm — threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Citi Field.
It was Welch’s last public appearance since a video of her giving a graphic performance went viral on social media demonstration of how to give good oral sex.
In the original clip, she’s joined by a friend, who caught her first ball at Citi Field.
The duo, both wearing Mets jerseys, then chest bumped each other in front of the crowd, much to the anger of many Mets fans.

“So the @Mets decided to have the Hawk Tuah Girl throw out the first pitch for a summer ‘camp day’ game where the vast majority of fans are 11 year old kids on a camp trip at the stadium. What were they really thinking? Be better than this,” one person wrote on social media.
“We have 120 Olympic medalists and you pick her? Really?” added another. “Civilization has reached a new low,” wrote a third.
Welch has risen to internet fame rapidly in recent months, now amassing 2 million followers on Instagram.
The Tennessee native has also made a killing by releasing merchandise featuring the now-iconic slogan and hanging out with the likes of Shaquille O’Neal.
She even jumped on stage with country star Zach Bryan and challenged pop star JoJo Siwa to a possible fight.
Michelle Waterson, former No. 1 ranked women’s atomweight and former Invicta FC Atomweight Champion, offered to train Welch.
But tennis star Nick Kyrgios took on an adig with Welch after she made an appearance at Jake Paul’s boxing victory over Mike Perry.
Kyrgios tweeted on Twitter: “There is no connection between fame and being good at anything anymore,” adding a laughing emoji.
