A man has been charged after $18 million worth of meth and cocaine bricks were reportedly discovered in the doors of his Toyota Corolla.

The 26-year-old man was stopped by police at 9.40am on Tuesday as he attempted to cross the border into Melbourne from Gundagai in south-eastern NSW.

Officers are said to have found 25kg of methylamphetamine and 10kg of cocaine hidden in the recesses of the front and passenger doors.

Upon further inspection of the stones, some were found covered with photos of Russian President Vladimir Putin sitting at a desk in the Kremlin.

The man was arrested and taken to Gundagai Police Station where he was charged with two counts of supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.

He was also charged with possessing a DECCD (dedicated encrypted criminal communications device) to commit serious criminal activity.

The man was refused bail and was brought before the Young Local Court on Wednesday.
