A meth-addicted mother was caught with 55 grams of ice in her pants after being seen handing suspicious drugs to a man in a parking lot.
Claire Louise Henderson, 28, was sentenced to four years in prison on Friday after the court learned she had turned to dealing meth to fund her own “all-consuming” drug addiction.
The South Australian District Court found the Christie Beach woman under surveillance on Feb. 5, 2021, when she was caught with a “significant” stash of meth in her underwear.
The court heard police observed Henderson in a car park on Marion Rd in Plympton, Adelaide, ‘handing an item to a man’.

When police stopped her and searched her vehicle, they found 616 grams of GHB – also known as fantasy – with a street value of up to $4312, as well as $1500 in cash, The advertiser reported.
She was arrested and taken to a guard house where she was searched.
“During a search, the police found two ounces of methamphetamine in separate plastic bags that you had hidden in your underwear,” Judge Barklay said.
The court heard that 55.6 grams of methamphetamine was found in her pants, of which 44.6 grams were pure, amounting to a value of up to $22,240.
After her arrest, police searched her property and found another 75 grams of fantasy, plastic resealable bags and tick lists.
The court heard that the 28-year-old took to selling drugs to fund her habit and to pay off a $30,000 drug debt she owed her partner.
She had lost custody of her child when she was 21 after falling into heavy drug use, the court was told.
Henderson pleaded guilty to commercial drug trafficking and two counts of drug trafficking and was sentenced to four years in prison, backdated to January 23 when she was taken into custody.

Following her 2021 arrest, Henderson received a beating from Magistrate Susan O’Connor for her conduct.
“Your only interest in life is cheap money, cheap medicine and a cheap solution,” the magistrate said.
“Think of the community sitting behind me asking what are you doing in the criminal court to allow these people to do so much evil…the whole drug trade means you’re a parasite preying on other people’s misfortunes.”
The court learned that Henderson was not present at court last August and a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was taken into custody in January.
Henderson will be eligible for parole in January 2025.
