Met Gala 2023 red carpet: Olivia Wilde wears SAME DRESS as Vogue China editor Margaret Zhang
Olivia Wilde suffered a fashion disaster at the 2023 Met Gala — when she appeared on the red carpet wearing the same dress as filmmaker and Vogue China editor Margaret Zhang.
The 39-year-old director of Don’t Worry Darling opted for a floor-length white Chloé dress, which was inspired by a design by the late Karl Lagerfeld and featured a gold fiddle-shaped design on the front.
While the House star looked gorgeous in the number, things quickly turned awkward when it was revealed that Margaret, 29, chose almost the exact same ensemble, but in black instead.
People all over social media couldn’t help but joke about the sartorial faux pau — while others wondered how on earth it could happen.

“The DRAMA,” one wrote, while another added, “They’re so brave they don’t go straight home.”
“FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT,” read a third tweet. A fourth said, “Omg RIP to whoever gets fired for this.”
“Well that’s embarrassing,” another tweeted.
“I’d be pissed off,” another user wrote. Another agreed: “They have to hide for the next year.”
Someone else asked, “How is this even possible?”
“I thought all the outfits were pre-approved? Someone is in trouble,” read another tweet.
Other social media users argued over who wore it better, while some slammed the dress – labeling it “ugly” and comparing the front embellishment to a sanitary pad.
The chances of two stars wearing the same dress may seem slim at first glance, but since the theme of this year’s Met Gala is all about celebrating Karl, it’s not too shocking that both Olivia and Margaret wore ensembles that emerged from his creations.

“It’s from Chloé’s spring 1983 collection, which was completely inspired by music” Fashion reported.
“This particular look referenced a violin made by a 17th-century Italian luthier named Nicola Amati.”
Gabriela told the outlet, “What I loved about the original design was the musical inspiration of it and the surreal touch to it.
“There was something quite timeless that we could bring back to the Met Gala in 2023.”
It is unknown who created Margaret’s version of the dress. In addition to being different colors, the two issues also featured different bottoms – Olivia’s was thinner, while Margaret’s dress flared at the ends and featured a wavy tail with gold embroidery.
