Meryl Streep smiles after her Martin Short romance seems to be ‘confirmed’ by Steve Martin

Meryl Streep was recently spotted at a concert in Los Angeles, just days after her rumored romance with Martin Short appeared to receive confirmation.

The Oscar-winning actress, 75, attended a performance by the legendary Joni Mitchell at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday.

Dressed in a chic all-black ensemble with an Oxford shirt and matching trousers, the Sophie’s Choice star oozed sophistication as she arrived at the iconic venue with a group of beaming friends.

This outing followed Steve Martin’s playful social media post, where he shared a throwback photo of himself next to Streep and Short, but with a crossed-out red circle over his own face.

The bold gesture sent fans into a tantalizing, sparking speculation that Martin addressed the swirling romance rumors between his co-stars.

The 79-year-old actor shares the screen with the 74-year-old Short in the hit series Only Murders in the Building, in which Streep makes a special guest appearance in the third and fourth seasons.

However, both Martin and Meryl have insisted they are only friends and in August Streep broke her silence on the speculation after the pair held hands on the red carpet.

Fans shared their thoughts in the comments section of Steve’s post, with one typing: “Did he just hit the relationship hard.”

Another excitedly wrote: “Are you confirming this relationship?!” while one shared: ‘I take this as confirmation. I’ve never been so invested in celebrity rumors.”

“Is this the couple reveal we’ve been waiting for?” one Instagram user asked, while another added, “@selenagomez please help him. We don’t understand,” followed by a laughing emoji.

One wrote: ‘While Meryl and Martin claim they’re just friends, Steve betrays them,’ followed by a laughing emoji.

Another fan typed “the fact that you didn’t even add a caption,” while one wrote, “I don’t know why the thought of Meryl and Martin makes me so happy but honestly it fills my heart with joy.”

‘Always the last to understand these clues about relationships. But if so, they would make a great couple,” an Instagram user added.

Another added in the comments section: “If it is indeed true that they are together I am very happy for them,” while someone also asked: “Is he confirming their relationship?”

Last January, it was announced that Meryl was joining the cast of Only Murders In The Building – appearing in both the third and fourth seasons of the Hulu show.

Told shortly afterwards People van Streep’s casting in the series: ‘The story with Meryl is that she called me and said, “I want to be there.”

“They had already planned for me to have a theatrical experience and for there to be a love interest.”

Martin added, “So that was a coincidence, but she just wanted to be on the show. She didn’t know anything about it [the love story].’

John Hoffman, the showrunner of Only Murders In The Building, discussed the chemistry between Martin and Meryl last year.

He told it The cover, “It’s quite unexpected to imagine a combination of Meryl Streep and Martin Short and see them find this incredible connection together.”

“And, like Meryl said, not to talk about two, or the age or any of that. It’s just a beautiful romance that you buy, I think, because of who these two characters are.”

And in October 2023, it was revealed that Streep had quietly split from husband Don Gummer six years earlier.

Meryl and Martin have been spotted together at several events, including the Golden Globe Awards held in Beverly Hills earlier this year in January.

In May, Short addressed romance speculation between him and Streep while also speaking to People.

‘It’s always interesting. Show business relationships and specs. She’s fantastic. There is no one who doesn’t love her,” the actor said at the time.

A few months earlier, in August, Meryl and Martin further fueled the romance rumors when they were spotted holding hands at the season four premiere of the Hulu series in Los Angeles.

The Devil Wears Prada actress was dressed to impress in a printed dress, while Short was smartly dressed in a classic black suit.

That same month, Meryl broke her silence on the speculation as her rep broke it Page six“They’re just friends.”

A separate source also told the publication: ‘It has to be more than a ‘showmance’. There’s definitely something in it.’

Last September, Martin briefly discussed his and Streep’s friendship when they were not in front of the camera.
