Meryl Streep and Martin Short raised eyebrows at the premiere of Only Murders in the Building on Thursday night.
Streep, 75, and Short, 74, were seen holding hands on the green carpet.
This came after Short insisted that he and the Oscar-winning Hollywood icon were “just friends.”
The duo attended the premiere of their show’s fourth season, which took place on the Paramount Studios lot in Los Angeles.
They were also among them co-stars Selena Gomez And Steve Martin.
The actors play the roles of Loretta Durkin and Oliver Putnam, lovers who met when she was cast in the musical he produced in the third season.

Deadline also shared a video of the two holding hands.
And the fans were quick to respond.
“I love living in a world where 75-year-old Meryl Streep is having a tender relationship with her 74-year-old boyfriend, Martin Short,” one fan wrote in response to the clip of the two holding hands.
“Please let them be real,” pleaded another.
“I think they’re great together,” said one fan.
A spokesperson for Short denied any romance between the two after they performed together at the Golden Globes.
“They are just very good friends, nothing more,” the spokesperson said at the time.
The two appeared to fuel speculation when they joked around together on the green carpet before the screening, holding hands and striking funny poses.
Smart has been a widow since his wife Nancy Dolman died of ovarian cancer in 2010. They have children: Katherine, 40, Oliver, 38, and Henry, 35.
Streep was married to artist Don Gummer for nearly 40 years, but the couple quietly separated in 2017.

Streep fans are excited about the prospect of a third Mamma Mia film after Christine Baranski recently broached the possibility in an interview.
“I was in London with Judy Craymer in our favorite pub, she’s planning Mamma Mia 3. She gave me the storyline of how it was going to happen,” the Emmy winner said The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview.

“We will all be on a fantastic Greek or Croatian island and have a great time… I hope.”
Craymer, who was a writer and producer on Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, confirmed that she has been working on the project.
There’s a story in there, and I think Meryl [Streep] should come back — and if the script is good, I think she would, because she really loved playing Donna. I don’t want to overstate it, but I know there’s a trilogy,” she said. Term in may.
Only Murders in the Building season four will air on Hulu on August 27.
