Mert Ney: Man slashes prison guard after being jailed for killing sex worker Michaela Dunn
A notorious killer who served decades for brutally stabbing a sex worker during a bloody massacre has attacked a guard with a razor blade.
Mert Ney shocked Sydney in August 2019 when he murdered 24-year-old Michaela Dunn and then ran through the streets with a knife, stabbing another woman, before being overpowered by brave Good Samaritans.
He was sentenced to more than 40 years in prison. Chief Justice Peter Johnson described his actions as a “vicious, brutal and terrifying attack without reason”.
Ney is being held in the state’s maximum security prison, Goulburn Supermax.
Ney is believed to have stabbed a guard in the chest around 10 a.m. on Friday.

The officer was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Ney was sentenced to 44 years in prison, 33 of which will be without the possibility of parole, for the murder of Mrs. Dunn.
His previously imposed release was shortened by three years after he successfully appealed to the Court of Criminal Appeal in October last year.
In October 2021, Ney was convicted of assaulting a prison guard while in prison, for which he was sentenced to 15 months in prison.
He was also convicted and sentenced to 12 months in prison for setting fire to his cell.
In February last year, Ney was sentenced to 15 months in prison for throwing boiling water on a fellow inmate.

At the time of Mrs Dunn’s death, Ney had booked a $250 sexual service with the young woman who worked at an establishment on Clarence St.
He then brutally stabbed her in the face, neck, chest and arms, before running through the streets with a balaclava and a second knife on his head.
A group of brave citizens managed to overpower him with a chair and a crate of milk before he was arrested by police.
