Men ghost me when they find out I’m a 36-year-old virgin – but I just want them to prove themselves before I jump into bed

Sonali Chandra is a 36 year old virgin. In fact, she has only kissed five men.

She grew up in a very conservative household where she was taught that sex is a sacred act between a man and a woman.

But now even her harsh family is telling her to ‘just do it already’, echoing the voices of thousands of critics and men who ‘dare to slide into her DMs’.

However, the US-born business manager and stand-up comedian is steadfast and says she will only give herself to a man who ‘puts a ring on it’.

This makes dating difficult in the modern age – with many suitors ‘ghosting’ once they realize she really won’t be keen on giving up her virginity.

“The first time I ever told a guy I was a virgin was when I was 26,” she told Truly TV.

‘The man who was my first kiss, my first real relationship, was shocked. His jaw dropped and he asked if I wanted to remain a virgin forever.”

Sonali spent her 27th birthday wondering if her boyfriend would message her back before realizing she had been brutally ghosted on her birthday after their conversation about virginity.

That was the first of many disappearing boyfriends.

“Every time these guys have ghosted me, I’ve been through emotional hell,” she said.

‘It’s heartbreaking and makes me think men only think I’m good for sex.’

She previously told the Daily Star that she had been in three serious relationships but had dated nine men in total.

They all turned into jerks when she remained steadfast on the issue of sex.

‘I consider sex sacred and special. In fact, I don’t even like the word ‘sex’, I prefer ‘making love’. “I’m ready (to make love) when I have a ring from ‘the one,'” she said.

Sonali said that as a child she grew up in a super strict household. Her parents, both from India, did not allow her sleepovers – and dating was strictly forbidden.

She wasn’t even allowed to go to prom, and when it came time for college, she was told she couldn’t live in a dorm.

‘My strict upbringing definitely had a big impact on my dating life. I wasn’t allowed to socialize and dating was a big no-no,” she explained.

“Dating is a life skill, and I was forbidden from developing that skill during my teenage and college years.”

Sonali’s sexuality is questioned by suitors who assume she is gay or asexual when she refuses their advances.

‘The truth is that I am a heterosexual woman. I have strong values and high morals and I consider sex sacred and special.”

Sonali also revealed some of her fears around premarital sex, including getting pregnant.

“The biggest worry for me was accidentally getting pregnant,” she argued. ‘It’s so easy for men. It’s easy in and out, right?

‘For us women it is a long process. There are so many health problems, STDs, urinary tract infections, accidentally getting pregnant even when on the pill.

She admits that she is terrified of sexually transmitted diseases and premarital pregnancies

“Celibacy means I don’t have to worry about all that stuff.”

Sonali wants a man to want her for her, not because they’re trying to break her virginity promise or see her as the ultimate conquest.

Despite conventional dating methods being difficult to handle, the 36-year-old refuses an arranged marriage.

“I don’t want my parents to decide who I have sex with, um, we don’t talk about that,” she laughed nervously.

She uses ‘the dating apps’ and has appeared on television dating shows in the hope of finding ‘The One’.
