Melton Lotto & TSG in Melbourne declared the luckiest newsagent in Australia after TattsLotto win

Melton Lotto & TSG in Melbourne named the luckiest newsagent in Australia after TattsLotto’s win

A newsagent has been given a new nickname after selling a whopping 62 winning First Division tickets.

Melton Lotto & TSG on Melbourne’s western edge has been in business for 20 years and has sold more division one winners than any other newsagent in Australia.

In the past three years alone, eight division one winners have emerged from newsagent owner Phong Thai, aka ‘Mr Lucky’.

The last victor to reap the spoils was a Melton father who is now ‘living the dream’ after walking away with $1.7 million in last Saturday’s TattsLotto.

He had played the same numbers in Saturday’s draw that he had used for the past 35 years.

“I’ve had them for so long, I’ve forgotten what they even mean,” he told The Lott.

‘This is incredible. I can pay off my daughter’s house and invest the rest… This is the best day of my life.”

Initially the Melton man did not realize he had won as his entry had not been registered lottery officials were unable to contact him until he reported.

He was one of the three winners of the first division last Saturday.

Melton Lotto & TSG owner Phong Thai couldn’t believe the news when he heard he had just sold another winning ticket.

‘I’m excited! “I can’t believe we’ve sold another winning Division 1 entry,” he said.

“Many of my customers call me ‘Mr Lucky’ because of the number of division one winning entries our outlet has sold.”

“I’m sure many customers will feel inspired as they hope to be the next division one winner to take home a million dollar prize.”

Another Queensland newsagent is also on a winning streak this year with two Division One winners in nine months.

Nextra Forest Lake News in Forest Lake, southwest of Brisbane, sold two division one winners in nine months when one player scored $1 million in the Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto.

The final Division 1 ticket came from December’s separate Powerball drawing, with the winner walking away with one Priced at $33 million in December.

Jenny Ford, who manages the store, said she was ‘over the moon’ after her newsagent was linked to the second win.

“Who would have thought this would happen less than a year after our last win,” she said.

“We sold a (winning) entry in the $100 million Powerball drawing… I don’t think we’ll ever be able to beat that, but hopefully we can!

A winning entry from division two came from SA.
