Melissa McCarthy is the queen of West Hollywood Pride’s parade in colorful, rainbow striped cape

Melissa McCarthy ruled the annual West Hollywood Pride celebration on Sunday.

The Little Mermaid star, 52, wore a rainbow floor-length dress and added even more flair with a rainbow-striped fringed cape.

She drove down Santa Monica Boulevard in a white BMW adorned with a plethora of colorful balloons and signs that read “Say Gay,” in reference to Florida Governor Ron DeStantis’s “Don’t Say Gay” campaign.

The Mike and Molly alum wore a voluminous brunette wig and did her makeup in a dramatic fashion, embracing her inner drag queen.

The Bridesmaids actress waved cheerily to the parade spectators.

A Pride parade is a natural setting for the Tammy star.

She based her performance as Ursula in The Little Mermaid on the iconic drag queen Divine.

In fact, Ursula’s character was also inspired by Divine in the original 1989 animated movie.

There’s a drag queen living inside of me. I’m always on the verge of working with her full-time,” she shared Weekly entertainment in April.

Melissa sings Ursula’s anthem, Poor Unfortunate Souls, in the film and added that accepting a singing role was “great fun.”

Last week, The Heat actress shared a sweet story about Halle Bailey while filming The Little Mermaid.

“Halle hums incredibly quietly the entire time,” she explained Triple J radio. “There’s always that beautiful thing, it’s a different melody, it’s so quiet, but we were overheard because sometimes we were so far apart that if we whispered to each other we could hear it completely in our earphones.”

She continued, “So she was just very much in the eye line because I was up a lot of time and she was in this little ball just sitting on the floor and just so quiet but always humming.” ‘
