Melissa Joan Hart claims she encountered the Holy Spirit as she discusses her strong Christian faith: ‘I had a born again moment’

Melissa Joan Hart has revealed that she experienced a “born again” moment and encountered the Holy Spirit.

The star of Sabrina The Teenage Witch, 47, has said prayer deepened her faith as she began to read and study the Bible.

Melissa told Christian mail: “I did indeed have a born-again, Holy Ghost moment. I’ve never really understood the Holy Spirit or the Trinity in a way. One day we were doing a Bible study and it hit me, like the Holy Spirit suddenly made sense to me!

“One day I just felt it and I thought, ‘Oh my God, that’s the Holy Spirit talking to me. Now I understand.’

“As if a bolt of lightning hit me and I thought, ‘The Holy Ghost!’ I don’t know why it hit me and I got it. Then I understood the Trinity and everything better.’

She also remembered her “born again” moment and how she had always felt like she had “walked with God.”

“Everyone is always talking about when they came to Jesus or when they were born again,” she said. “I feel like I’ve always walked with God, it’s just gotten deeper and closer and more fulfilling.”

She added that her husband had helped her with her prayers.

Melissa has been married to Mark Wilkerson since 2003 and the couple share sons Mason, 17, Braydon, 15, and Tucker, 10.

She recently revealed that she almost got fired from her role on the TV show Sabrina The Teenage Witch because she posed topless and in her underwear for a Maxim cover in October 1999 at the age of 23.

On an episode of the Pod Meets World podcast, the actress shared that she was blindsided by the news that she was banned from the show, in which she played the title character, after taking part in a photo shoot.

The artist, who recently attended a SAG-AFTRA meeting in New York, went on to say that the controversy surrounding the magazine’s cover ultimately increased the success of another project of hers.

Melissa started by talking about posing for a picture with Britney Spears on what she described at the time as “the worst day of my life.”

She recalled, “My lawyer shows up and says, ‘Did you do a photo shoot for Maxim magazine?’ I say, “Yes, I did.” They say, “Well, you’re getting sued and fired from your show, so don’t talk to the press. Don’t do anything.”

The cover of the magazine carried the headline “Sabrina, your favorite witch with no sting!”

The use of the character’s name violated a clause in Hart’s contract with Archie Comics, under which she was never allowed to portray the teenage witch naked.

She said, “So here they thought I was in violation for playing the character.” No, I was supposed to be promoting (Drive Me Crazy).”

The actress also noted that during the photo shoot, she only did “what my publicist told me to do.” Like I did a photo shoot for Maxim! It’s Maxim, of course you’re in your underwear’

The artist also said that she did not expect her role in Sabrina to be referenced in the magazine.

“It wasn’t meant to be a character. I had no control over what they wrote on the cover,” she said.

Melissa explained that she defused the situation by writing an apology letter, after which she was able to keep her role as Sabrina.
