Melissa George flaunts her Parisian style in a headscarf and trench coat at London’s Mayfair

A long way from Summer Bay! Home and Away star Melissa George shows off her Parisian style in a Hermes headscarf after saying she’d rather ‘enjoy a croissant in Paris’ than be in Australia

Australian actress Melissa George showed off her Parisian sense of style when she stepped out in London on Tuesday.

The former Home and Away star, 46, kept a low profile while shopping in posh Mayfair, wearing a beige designer trench coat and a blue headscarf.

Melissa, who rose to fame playing Angel Parrish on the iconic soap opera, also carried a black Hermes handbag.

She appeared cheerful, chatting with a friend who also looked chic in a plaid coat and carrying a garment bag in her arms.

The former soap star currently lives in Paris with her two sons, Raphaël, nine, and Solal, seven.

In 2012, Melissa was furious when The Morning Show hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies played clips from her soap star days and asked her about her time on Home And Away.

News Corp reported that the actress had threatened to walk off set if her time on Home And Away was mentioned.

“She kept saying she’s had so many bigger roles since Home And Away that it was insulting to talk about it – she even said she would bill Seven for inadvertently promoting it through the media,” a source tells The DailyTelegraph.

Melissa broke her silence about the incident in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, explaining that she would not be coming back to Australia for a while due to the stress local media interviews caused her.

“I don’t need credibility from my country anymore, I want them all to be quiet. If they don’t have anything useful to say, please don’t speak to me again,’ she said.

“I’d rather have a croissant and a little espresso in Paris or walk my French bulldog in New York City.”

But during a radio interview with KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson in 2017, Melissa claimed she never said the words attributed to her, despite the journalist standing behind her story.

“I never said that at all and I let it go and it was huge, but we laughed and I never said anything negative about my country,” Melissa told the KIIS FM stars at the time.

It’s all been mixed up and put in the wrong context.

“You know, I think it’s clear I’d rather drink a Chardonnay in Perth or eat a Vegemite sandwich than a croissant in Paris.”

Melissa starred as Angel Parrish in Home and Away from 1993 to 1996 and made her Hollywood debut in the 1998 film Dark City.

She also starred in 2001’s Mulholland Drive and 2005’s Ontspoord.

One of her most recent projects was The Mosquito Coast. Her character is the wife of protagonist Allie Fox, played by Justin Theroux.
