Australian actress Melissa George enjoys summer in France for more than a decade after saying she’d ‘rather enjoy a croissant in Paris’ than talk about Home and Away again
Melissa George has once again expressed her undying love for Paris.
The Australian actress, who once infuriated her home country when she said she would rather “eat a croissant in Paris” than talk about Home and Away, is currently spending the summer in France, where she now resides permanently.
She shared photos of her life in Europe on Instagram and captioned a picturesque selfie, “Summer in Paris.”
She then followed it up with a series of funny photos from a high tea garden party she attended.
The 46-year-old thespian became frustrated in 2012 during an interview on Channel Seven’s The Morning Show when presenters Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies focused too much on her role as Angel in Home and Away.

‘I love this city [Sydney] so much. And I want to come home a lot, but the stress this has caused me is not worth my health,” she said after the interview, according to the Herald Sun.
“I think it will be the last time I visit and work here for a while, to be honest, because I just get too upset when I get home,” she continued.
“I don’t need credibility from my country anymore, I want them all to be quiet. If they have nothing useful to say, please don’t speak to me again.’
She then issued a statement that would haunt her for the next decade.
“I’d rather have a croissant and a little espresso in Paris or walk my French bulldog in New York City.”
Melissa, who once enraged her home country when she said she would rather “eat a croissant in Paris” than talk about Home and Away, is currently spending the summer in France, where she now resides permanently.

She later clarified that she made the comments because she was on the show to promote and raise money for McHappy Day, but the hosts only wanted to discuss her time on Home and Away.
The Alias actress then apologized after backlash, saying: ‘The events of the week have upset me and I want to apologize to all my fans who were offended by my comments about Australia last weekend.
‘I am very proud of my Australian roots and will continue to come home often to see my family and work here. In fact, my favorite croissants in the world are at the Bourke Street Bakery in Surry Hills,” she continued.
“I’m also proud of my early work in Australia and always happy when people refer to Home and Away, but what I really want to talk about with my fans is the work I’m doing now.”
Indeed, George has enjoyed an impressive on-screen career since leaving the Australian soap opera in 1996.
She played Camilla Rhodes in David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive and starred alongside A-lister Ryan Reynolds in the blockbuster Amityville Horror remake.
The star also had memorable roles in popular TV shows such as Alias and Grey’s Anatomy.
She currently stars alongside Justin Theroux in Apple TV’s prestigious drama The Mosquito Coast.
