Melissa Doyle says she feels ‘sad’ for female celebrities who get plastic surgery

Melissa Doyle, 53, says she’s ‘sad’ for female celebrities who get plastic surgery to look younger on the red carpet: ‘Aging is natural’

Melissa Doyle has shared her refreshing take on aging as a woman in the public eye.

Speak against Stellar magazine on Sunday, the former Sunrise presenter, 53, revealed why she has chosen to age naturally, admitting she feels sorry for female celebrities who take drastic measures to slow down the aging process – including plastic surgery.

“I think it’s sad that someone feels like they have to change so much to meet other people’s expectations,” she explained.

“If that’s what she wants to do to make herself feel better, go for it, but do it for you.” Don’t do it for the commentators or the red carpet,” Melissa added.

She chose not to mention the names of the celebrities she was referring to.

Melissa continued, “Aging is natural. It happens to us from the day we are born. So why are we fighting it?’

“I’m not going to pretend there aren’t times when I look in the mirror and wish I didn’t have so many smile lines, but it’s okay, it’s natural.”

Melissa insisted that getting older is something that should be embraced because older people often have a wealth of experience that younger people don’t.

Melissa is currently promoting her new book How To Age Against The Machine, which she hopes will inspire confidence in women as they age.

She also co-hosts a podcast of the same name alongside Naima Brown.

Melissa was one of Seven’s top presenters for 25 years, hosting the breakfast show Sunrise from 2002 to 2013 and current affairs program Sunday Night from 2015 to 2019.

She was dropped by the network in August 2020.

Her departure was believed to be due to the economic downturn caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which hit Seven particularly hard.
