A-League powerhouse Melbourne Victory has been handed a record financial penalty and a host of other tough measures by Football Australia after its supporters shocked the sport by storming the pitch during a match last month.

On Tuesday, the governing body announced that the club will be hit with financial penalties totaling $550,000, of which $450,000 consists of fines and the remainder in loss of revenue.

Additionally, no seats will be assigned to their fans at road games for the remainder of the 2022-23 regular season and the final series.

The team must also prevent its fans from sitting behind the goals at the north end of its stadium at AAMI Park for the remainder of the current season.

Victory will have a suspended 10-point deduction hanging over their heads for the next three seasons, ready to kick in anytime their fans misbehave.

The remainder of the round 8 game against Melbourne City, which had to be called off after 22 minutes due to shocking scenes, will have to be replayed in April this year.
