Residents in Victoria forced to evacuate their homes due to flood crisis one-time emergency payments are offered, Prime Minister Daniel Andrews has announced that.
Residents of inner-city Melbourne were ordered Friday to evacuate their homes, along with hundreds in regional areas that were under water.
Affected adults are each eligible for a payment of $560 with an additional $280 per child.
“It’s about helping people through that immediate challenge where they’re not in their homes because their property has been flooded,” the prime minister told ABC’s Virginia Trioli on Friday.
“(The payment) is about food, shelter, medicine and things like that.”
