A woman is fighting for their lives and another three are injured after they were allegedly stabbed by a man in a random spate of attacks.

The man is said to have stabbed four people in three random attacks on the outskirts of inner-city Melbourne over a three-hour period starting on Saturday evening.

About 10pm, a 24-year-old Melbourne man was attacked outside a burger shop on King Street and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his leg.

It is alleged the man stabbed a man and a woman walking along Dandenong Road in St Kilda East shortly before 11pm.

The 31-year-old woman from St Kilda East was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Glen Waverley man, also 31, was also taken to hospital with serious injuries to his arm.
