Grieving girlfriend reveals teen’s final words before he was allegedly stabbed to death at Melbourne’s at Woodgrove Shopping Centre
A teenage girl who watched her boyfriend die in an alleged knife attack remembers him asking her to ‘call an ambulance’ in his terrifying final moments.
Oscar Hamilton, 16, was dropped off at the Woodgrove Shopping Centre in Melbourne’s Melton West by his mother on Tuesday so he could meet his girlfriend Briannan Hibbert and some friends.
Shortly afterwards, he was allegedly stabbed by a 15-year-old boy, who has since been charged with murder.
Briannan was left traumatised after witnessing the alleged attack take place at the open-air eatery at La Porchetta, in front of schoolchildren.
“The only thing he said was, right after he got stabbed, he said ‘call an ambulance.’ That’s when it all hit home,” she said Nine news on wednesday.
‘Oscar died before the CPR even started.’
Briannan panicked and called Oscar’s mother for help.
“She tried to give me tips on what to do with the stab wounds,” she said.

She described the phone call to her parents as the hardest thing she has ever had to do.
“Just hearing how upset his mom was when I told her, it sucked,” Briannan said.
‘When I saw her when she arrived at the scene, it was really horrible.
“I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, not even my worst enemy, because it was so horrible to see,” she said.
Briannan also paid an emotional tribute to her late friend.
“Oscar brought so much joy into everyone’s lives,” she said.
Oscar’s father, Steven Hamilton, released a statement on behalf of the family last night.
“Today our world has fallen apart,” reads the statement released by The age to read.
‘Broken to pieces by a senseless act that ended the life of our son and brother, Oscar.
“His loss has left a gaping hole in our hearts and our grief knows no bounds. We ask for the space and privacy to navigate this incredibly difficult time.”

Police claim Oscar and his alleged attacker knew each other, but stress no links have been established to youth gangs in the western suburbs.
“There was an altercation between the victim and another man,” Victoria Police said.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death have yet to be determined.”
It is not known whether the weapon used in the alleged stabbing has been recovered.
Police arrested a 15-year-old boy hours after the alleged attack.
He was charged with murder early Wednesday morning and appeared in a juvenile court hearing later today.
The teenager sat in the dock and wiped away tears during his brief court appearance.
No details of the alleged offence were read out in court
The teenager has not filed a bail application and will remain in custody until his arrest in January.
His lawyer told the judge that it was the boy’s first time in custody and that he needed to be examined by a nurse.

Oscar’s death sparked an outpouring of tributes on social media, with Brianna leading the way.
She has set up a public Facebook group to commemorate the 16-year-old’s life, remembering Oscar as “a beautiful soul who I was lucky enough to call my boyfriend.”
“It was never meant to end this way, but I guess heaven needed you more than it needed us,” she wrote.
“No one will ever get over this. You filled everyone’s life with so much light and joy. You never failed to put a smile on faces.
‘Life will never be the same without you. My heart will always ache knowing you’re gone.
“I will never forgive whoever did this to you. We are going to get you justice, don’t worry.”
“Everyone was so lucky to have you in their lives. This world was too cruel for your beautiful soul.”
Many heartbroken friends remembered Oscar as a “sweet” and “well-behaved” boy.
“You will be missed Oscar. Words cannot describe how much everyone will miss you. You were too young to die,” one person wrote.
Another friend added: ‘It breaks my heart to know I won’t see you again but I am so grateful for every memory we had and all the moments we shared along the way. You were the best (sic) and funniest friend we could have ever asked for.’

A third wrote: ‘My heart sank when I heard you were gone. My heart cries for your family. You didn’t deserve this at all.’
A fourth posted: ‘Rest in peace and love sweet boy. You were the sweetest soul ever. You had such a beautiful smile and a very infectious laugh. You were such a people pleaser, never liked conflict. No words can describe how much I will miss you. You never deserved what happened to you.’
Pip Ware, who met Oscar a few times through her daughter, grieved for his family.
“It’s tragic, heartbreaking, I can’t even imagine what these children are going through,” she told the Herald Sun.
“It’s something these kids shouldn’t have to deal with. He was a sweet, well-behaved boy.”
