Melbourne shooting: Teen shot while sleeping in his Endeavor Hills home after shots are fired

An urgent manhunt for a gunman is underway after a teenage boy was shot as he slept in his home in Melbourne’s south-east.
Emergency services were called to a Janmara Court home in Endeavor Hills around 1.20am on Wednesday after reports of a shooting.
Detectives believe a number of shots were fired from the road or footpath into a bedroom window of a house, wounding the teenager as he slept.
The 17-year-old boy was treated at the scene and taken to hospital in stable condition with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.

Other family members who were in the house at the time escaped unharmed.
Shocked neighbors told the Today show they were woken by the sound of gunshots.
The street has been cordoned off while detectives from the Major Crime Scene Unit investigate the scene.
No arrests have been made.

Two nights earlier, a terrified family was forced to take shelter in a bedroom after several shots were fired into their unit in nearby Dandenong.
Baryalai Rahmazai was at home with his three young children and pregnant wife when shots were fired at their Burrows Avenue home late Sunday evening.
‘They were very scared. I told them not to go to school tomorrow because they were just crying that night,” Rahmazai told Nine News.
Shots were also fired at a neighboring unit, hitting doors and a car.
