Melbourne radio host takes a brutal swipe at rivals Kyle and Jackie O with a very X-rated post… after beating the duo in radio ratings

Melbourne radio presenter Sammy J has slammed KIIS FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson after they were beaten in the recent Melbourne market survey.

The radio duo finished fifth in the survey this month, while Sammy J enjoyed a ratings boost for his ABC morning show.

The popular comedian couldn’t resist celebrating his victory with a post mocking the Kyle and Jackie O show‘s love for lewd content.

“All those months of asking my ABC listeners if they did everything really paid off,” Sammy said in an Instagram Story he shared Monday.

The mischievous joke at the expense of his rivals appears to be a direct reference to a comment Sandilands made when his radio show first went on air in Melbourne in April.

During the show, Henderson, 49, introduced herself as “STD-free,” after which Kyle pressed her to give her opinion on anal sex.

The 52-year-old introduced himself as an “ex-F-boy, coke-snorting asshole.”

Meanwhile, Sammy J, real name Samuel Jonathan McMillan, enjoyed a boost in listenership for his ABC Melbourne breakfast show, scoring an 8.2 percent audience share in the August ratings, up from 7.3 in the last survey.

This comes after The Kyle and Jackie O Show appears to be struggling to break into the Melbourne radio market.

This week’s latest viewing figures showed arch-rivals Jason ‘Jase’ Hawkins and Lauren Phillips easily beating the Sydney-based shock jocks.

It was a particularly sweet victory, as the duo The Melbourne breakfast show was axed last year to make way for the major expansion of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s program from Sydney to the city.

Amid all the competition, The Jase and Lauren Show, now airing on rival network Nova FM, has been crowned Melbourne’s most listened to breakfast program.

The comedy talk show has taken the coveted first place in the recently released results of GFK’s fifth radio ratings survey for 2024.

Jase and Lauren’s popular show rose 0.3 points and 9.9 percent in audience share, putting it a clear lead over rivals The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Kyle and Jackie O trailed significantly with a 6.1 percent share after its Melbourne premiere on April 29. It was the city’s fifth most listened to morning show.

However, Melbourne newcomers Kyle and Jackie O did slightly boost the city’s ratings, from 5.9 to 6.1 percent.

Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick came in second place with a 9.6 percent audience share, while Gold FM’s Christian O’Connell was in third place.

Despite the station’s ratings decline in Melbourne, The Kyle and Jackie O Show once again saw KIIS FM take the top spot as the city’s most listened to radio station.

The popular morning show attracted 750,000 listeners across Sydney each week, up 50,000 on the previous survey.

Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little enjoyed huge ratings success elsewhere, being named the most popular national drive show in Australia.

Hit Network’s Carrie & Tommy achieved an 11.1 percent market share in Australia, taking the top spot for the fourth time in a row. An impressive feat.

The duo said of the results: ‘We are so lucky to have such a hardworking team and such amazing listeners who continue to motivate us to achieve incredible results.

“Thank you, Australia, for putting us at number one for the fourth time in a row. We have a great time every afternoon and we’re thrilled to share that joy with listeners across the country.”
