Melbourne, Hosier Lane: Man, 37, hands himself into police after young girl was saved from a terrifying alleged abduction by Good Samaritan
A 37-year-old man has handed himself in to police just one day after a 14-year-old schoolgirl recalled how she was saved from a harrowing alleged kidnap attempt.
The Melbourne girl joined police on Wednesday in a public appeal to find her alleged attempted kidnapper after a nearly month-long search.
It is claimed the teenager was approached by an unknown man during a class outing through the city's graffiti streets.
She had fallen behind the group and was on Hosier Lane when the stranger approached and called her “pretty.”
Police allege the man then grabbed the girl's arm and tried to drag her further into the lane.
Fortunately, another stranger saw that the teen was upset and intervened, posing as her teacher.
A 37-year-old man from Thornbury reported to a police station on Thursday in connection with the case.
Police said in a statement that the man is “currently assisting police with their investigation.”
More to come.
