The sister of a doctor who was fatally stabbed during an alleged home invasion has revealed that seeing her devastated parents’ grief has been the hardest part of losing her brother.
Ashley Gordon, 33, was found with a fatal stab wound in his car less than a kilometer from his home in Doncaster, Melbourne’s north-east, on Saturday evening.
Two boys, both 16 years old, were arrested and questioned by homicide detectives on Wednesday.
The pair from Dandenong and Travancore were both charged with murder, aggravated burglary and robbery and will appear in the children’s court at a later date.
Dr. Gordon’s sister, Natalie, spoke Thursday about the tragedy and the toll it took on her mother and father.

“That’s the hardest thing for me,” she said 7News.
“We all held him on the biggest pedestal, and it’s gone. It’s just gone.’
The funeral of Dr. Gordon’s funeral will take place next Thursday, but his family is struggling to gather photos for his memorial.
“I can’t begin to explain how hard it is right now to go through photos… to go through photos and try to choose photos to show everyone how amazing he was,” Natalie said.
Dr Gordon’s family thanked detectives for their tireless work following the arrest of the two teenagers.
“We are pleased and grateful to the detectives who worked so hard to catch them so quickly,” his sister Natalie told Daily Mail Australia.
‘We are very grateful to the detectives for all the efforts they have made and continue to make, so that we see justice done.’
The breakthrough comes after Daily Mail Australia exclusively featured detectives raiding a house – close to Dr. Gordon in Melbourne’s east – where a raucous party took place on the night of his death.

During the raids, a young man was seen in the passenger seat of an unmarked car, next to two female officers.
The officers escorted the boy, dressed in a long top, shorts and boots, to the two-storey building.
Detectives could be seen searching the upstairs floor and carrying out cardboard evidence bags and boxes of documents.
Officers later noticed they were paying special attention to a garage next to the house.
Police vowed to provide additional support to Dr. Gordon’s loved ones following Wednesday’s arrests.
“We know Ash’s family and loved ones are grieving. This arrest will not remove the tragedy of this terrible situation, but we hope it will alleviate some of their distress,” Chief Inspector of the Serious Crime Division Janet Stevenson said on Thursday.
“Ash was a loved and valued member of our community, and we are all trying to understand what happened.”

Police acknowledged that Dr. Gordon’s death had caused fear in the community.
“Since this incident occurred on Saturday, Homicide Squad investigators have worked tirelessly with our colleagues in the region and specialist units to identify, locate and arrest those responsible for this tragedy,” Supt Stevenson added.
‘These types of incidents can cause fear and uncertainty.
“We want our community to feel safe in their homes and to that end, Victoria Police will continue to do everything we can to make this a reality.”
Dr. Gordon was fatally stabbed after chasing a group of intruders who broke into his Sargent Street home.
He followed the group in his car and got out to confront them on a nearby street before he was reportedly stabbed to death less than a kilometer from his home.
Neighbors told Daily Mail Australia they have reported a spate of crimes across the street in recent weeks, including a burglary in November and theft of a car last week.
Dr. Gordon’s death comes a year after his girlfriend Dakota Nagel, 25, made headlines when she mysteriously disappeared from the couple’s home in Doncaster after spending a night at the club with friends.
Police finally located Ms. Nagel safe and sound a week later, with the nature of her “out of character” disappearance never explained.

Ms Nagel responded to speculation that her mysterious disappearance from the same house a year ago was linked to the death of her partner.
“As far as we are concerned, the persons involved in my disappearance were not involved in Ash’s tragic death and there is no connection between the two,” Ms Nagel told the Herald Sun on Wednesday.
“In this time of mourning, beware of speculation, as it causes more harm and heartache than good.
